We're located in the heart of Oakland on the outer edge of the bustling Oakland Chinatown, just blocks from the Oakland City Center and the beautiful lake Merritt.

Established in 2010, our food inspiration came from the food that we ate at home growing up in Vietnam and here in Oakland and Bay Area after our family immigrated here in the 80's.

Our food carries our story. Each dish shares our family’s history, culture, and the traditions passed down over time. The flavors come from meals once made during holidays and special gatherings—like the rich broth of Bún Bò Huế or Phở simmering on the stove. These are the meals that brought everyone together. At Tay Ho Oakland, every bite is a connection to where we came from and what matters most: food, family, and shared memories.

Tay Ho Oakland is a woman-owned restaurant that puts care into every part of the business. Ingredients are locally sourced when possible, often from farmers markets, and each dish is made from scratch. Staff are paid living wages, and tips are shared with the entire team, including the kitchen and dishwasher. These efforts may raise prices, but they reflect a deep commitment to quality, fairness, and putting the community first in everything we do.
